Real Life Wedding | Cameron and Simone

Tell us about your proposal?

I took Simone out on Valentine’s Day to our favourite restaurant for a candlelit dinner. The ring was burning a hole in my pocket, I was so nervous and Simone kept asking what was wrong. The restaurant was so packed I couldn’t get up the nerve to propose in front of all those strangers. I paid the bill and when we got outside it was pouring rain so I thought it’s now or never! So I dropped to my knee and proposed on the footpath!

How did you go about planning your wedding?

We used a coordinator as it was a destination wedding, which made it easier using their local suppliers and her knowledge of the area. I also did my own research and came up with all my own ideas, and Helen booked and scheduled the whole day, so it was seamless. She was brilliant along with the staff and General Manager Caroline from Palm Bay Resort, which went above and beyond anyone’s expectations, they were truly amazing.

Any funny moments?

When we were doing our family handprint on canvas. It was so hot the paint dried before we could remove it from our hands, it was a little frantic as we had white on but ended up with a masterpiece and a good laugh.

What made your day so special?

Definitely seeing our family and friends that travelled from afar to this beautiful island paradise to share our special day and creating happy holiday memories with our favourite people.

Do you have any tips for upcoming couples?

Relax and don’t sweat the small stuff. Stick with your original ideas and don’t over complicate things. We utilised the islands natural environment and used their black rocks for name cards on the tables and my mum made our cake which saved us a lot of money.
